Portrait of Priscila Gomes

Profile

Priscila da Silva Figueiredo Celestino Gomes is an Associate Professor in computational biophysics. She investigates how structure, dynamics and mechanical forces govern biomolecular recognition, particularly in proteins involved in infectious diseases.

Education and experience

She holds a joint PhD in life sciences and biophysics from the École normale supérieure de Cachan and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Strasbourg, the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and Auburn University. Her international career connects drug discovery, bioinformatics, biomolecular modelling and the study of bacterial adhesin mechanostability.

Research and teaching

Her research combines structure prediction, molecular docking, virtual screening and molecular simulations to investigate infection mechanisms and guide the identification of therapeutic targets. Within the Master’s programme in Health Engineering, she teaches biophysics, scientific communication, molecular docking and artificial intelligence.
