Abstract

The main objective of this study was to identify models of mechanical behaviour of human hip cartilage useable in predictive calculations of finite element type. Experimental data were obtained using indentation instrumentalized tests on cartilage collected from femoral heads from surgery poses prosthetic hip. A finite element model of these tests, coupled with an inverse method was used to identify the material coefficients of 3 isotropic behavior, elastic, viscoelastic and hyperelastic. The results of the identifications have been found to be in good agreement with studies from experimentation on animals. The study can be extended to other types of behavior: poroviscoelastic, viscohyperelastic, anisotropy.
