Abstract

The synthesis of gamma-alkylidene alpha,beta-unsaturated delta-lactones was achieved by ring-closing metathesis of acrylates derived from (1,3-butadien-2-yl)methanols. The application to the synthesis of the C1-C8 subunit of biselide E is reported.
